Thanksgiving!

Our family is big on traditions. Whether it's Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas, I've always looked forward to the holidays. I have already told my parents that I fully expect an Easter basket and Christmas stocking until the end of time. It's something I love doing with my family and can't wait to pass these family traditions down to my kids.

Thanksgiving is one of my absolute favorite holidays because, well, let's be honest, it revolves around food and since I'm a foodie, there's no better combination. And as the household foodie, I took over the cooking for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner when I was about 15 (I think?) and have been fixing the holiday meals ever since. It's something I really enjoy and let's be honest, no one else in my family wants to do all the work.

In years past, my family (minus my husband who is hunting) would all head to my mom's house around ten in the morning and we start the day off with fresh cinnamon rolls while I get started on making dinner. This year, however, will be a little bit different. My parents are unable to get away from work in North Carolina and won't be able to make it. Not only that, but one of my brothers is currently living in Texas so I'm afraid he'll be missing out as well. It will be quite a change making dinner for 4 instead of 6 or 8 people. It'll just be me, my sister and her husband and my brother. Well, and my niece but she's not allowed to eat turkey quite yet.

Not only does my family stick to their traditions but my friends do as well. Every year, I join the masses for Black Friday shopping with my best friend, Katie. This Thursday night, everything opens at midnight in our town so I'm thinking we'll hit up Target and Kohl's as soon as we can.

Maybe this time I'll actually  buy some gifts for other people rather than myself. Although, I do have a few things on my wish list as well...

Oster Immersion Blender - Purple

Happy Thanksgiving week everyone! What are some of your families holiday traditions?

It's so cool that you cook for the holidays. My mom's always been the one to do that for anywhere from 6-30 people - you'd think I would've learned from her by now. Hah! We do Thanksgiving in NJ with D's family then sleep over & hit up the sales in the Outlets the next day. It's insane but we get 90% of our holiday shopping done in like 5hrs. LOL

I love Thanksgiving! I love that you want a stocking and easter basket forever. My mom still gets us stockings and I do look forward to it every year. What's on your menu for Thursday's feast?

Hand blender = amazing. I love mine. And the cin. rolls are a great idea. My whole family gathers at my sister's house, and every year everyone brings the same things. Since I was only 15 when we started the tradition, I was never assigned anything to bring except myself, which makes Thanksgiving cooking really boring! I'll have to make some cin. rolls for Josh & I for breakfast instead!

Seriously, nothing beats family traditions. I love hearing what everyone else does! And good for you for cooking every year! Thanksgiving dinner scares the crap out of me. :)

I love Thanksgiving too! We're doing 2 turkey meals on Thursday this year. One with my grandparents and one with Ryan's family. And then Friday, we're having everyone over to our house for a big post-Black-Friday-shopping brunch! I'm so excited about all the fun recipes I have planned. Hope you have a wonderful holiday!

I made a carrot cake last night we've already almost made it disappear, so much for making dessert in advance ha ha.

I took over the cooking too! It's so stressful but so worth it. I commend you for doing it while preggo!

I won't be with my family for thanksgiving this year but our tradition is outlet shopping Wed afternoon, then making food on Thurs morning with the National Dog Show in the background (always cheering on the Westites), followed by skimming the black friday ads after dinner to prepare. Have a wonderful thanksgiving with your sister!

I too am a Black Frday shopper and you better believe I'll be at the stores when they open. Double check the holiday hours of your stores though, some of our stores are opening up at 9pm on Thanksgiving! BTW can't wait for your shower in a few weeks!!!! Let us know if we can bring anything to help!

I've been cooking since I was 15, too! I actually enjoy cooking for fewer people because it means more leftovers... my mouth is already watering!

And I love my immersion blender. You NEED to get one :)

I don't know why but I never buy anything for other people on Black Friday. I forget about them. Oops!

I love that you took over at 15! That's so awesome! This year I get to make my first Thanksgiving meal. Usually we go to my aunt's house but she's mad at us and uninvited us this year so I volunteered, especially since I've never made a turkey and I want to really really bad! Any tips :)

Our traditions have changed now that I live so far away and we rotate with the hubs family and mine. But that makes it fun creating new ones too!
