Week 22 Update and other news.

Apologies for being so MIA lately, there's been a lot going on around these parts and it's taken some time to adjust back to regular schedule.

Last week, Kevin was away on his annual hunting trip to the Apple Creek Whitetails hunting lodge in Wisconsin. On Thursday, I got the following picture as I was eating lunch. Not the best way to start a meal...

Needless to say, he was very proud of his 14 pointer, so who am I to be a buzz kill? I'm proud of him for at least making the 18 hour drive worth all the trouble.

Normally, I would say that I was bored out of my mind without the hubs and was indulging in all my favorite secret single behavior activities (Friends marathons and Captain Crunch for dinner) but plans changed when we found out my sweet uncle passed away last Monday. It's difficult to see my mom, my aunts and uncle and my cousins Kristin and Nicole go through such a difficult time but I'm glad that my family and I could make the trip to Pennsylvania this weekend to celebrate my uncles life. I've got the most loving and supportive family a girl could ask for. When it counts, we're there for each other.

It's a bittersweet time for all of us right now. Not only did we mourn the loss of a wonderful man but we have so many other reasons to welcome new life around us. My sisters baby is 3 weeks old, my cousin's son is 3 months old and her sister, Kristin, is about as far along as I am in my pregnancy. We're racing to the finish line since her due date is within a week of mine. Oh, and she's also having a boy! So many things to be thankful for these days.

Onto my 22 week update:

I really need to stop taking pictures with my point and shoot in the dark bathroom.

How far along? 22 weeks and counting. Holy moly.
Total weight gain/loss: A healthy amount, aka: none ya business.
How big is baby?  The size of a spaghetti squash and weighs almost a pound.
Maternity clothes? Yup. Just purchased my first pair of maternity jeans even though the pre-preg ones still fit. Still wearing a lot of my regular shirts but will probably need to retire those soon.
Stretch Marks? I think I spotted a teeny one next to my belly button but hey, it was bound to happen.
Best moment this week? It was over a week ago but it would have to be finding out that my cousin and I are both having baby boys!!
Movement? Lots! The little guy is moving around all the time these days. Kevin got to feel a kick for the first time the other night.
Food Cravings? Chocolate. Chocolate cake to be precise.
What I miss: People keeping their opinions to themselves. Apparently I'm not supposed to wear heels, a bra with an underwire or drink orange juice. WTF.
What I am looking forward to:  Planning my baby shower with my sister and BFF's!
Nausea/Vomiting?: NO!!!! YAY! First week without puking FTW!
Labor signs? Nope
Gender? Baby boy!
Belly Button in or out? Innie for now.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Sleep? Waking up tossing and turning but other than that, sleeping through the night.
Weekly Wisdom: Chocolate and soda will make the baby move. A lot. Be prepared to feel flip flops in your tummy if you indulge in a little caffeine

Almost Friday my friends! Hang in there! :)

Multi-part comment...
a) why didn't you have Kevin pick me up on his way back? ;)
b) so sorry to hear about your family's loss. Sending all my good thoughts your way.
c) these people with the opinions that won't quit? Tell them to Google "Pregnant in Heels" and get back to you if they still want to talk about what you're doing "wrong." (and if they seriously still have opinions, I'll give 'em what's coming ;) )

Sorry to hear about your uncle. I'm glad you're able to find time with your family out of this. Oddly enough death often unites us.

Your bump is so cute :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. That is never easy.

You look great & hope you enjoy that chocolate cake! I loved eating while pregnant, not guna lie. Lol

P.s. Next time someone gives you unwanted advice just say "ohhh okay thanks." Then a pitty face & say "so that's what your Mom did hmm?" Seriously what is wrong with people!

So sorry about your uncle. Your family is in my prayers.
YOU LOOK FANTASTIC! And I totally agree that people need to keep their opinions to themselves. Or at least be open to getting, "Are you kidding me?" looks from preggos whenever something stupid comes out of their mouths!

Woman. You are too cute!

Also, my husband has totally sent me the exact same pictures--like I'm supposed to be proud or something? No idea.

Thinking of your family at this difficult time.

I'm sorry for your loss Jess. I know this time is bitter sweet for your family having to mourn a loss but there is so much to celebrate with all the new little ones being born.
You are a glowing gorgeous mama-to-be. Love the update.

1 - you look fantastic! Your bump is adorable. :) 2 - I didn't know your hubs hunted in Wisconsin! That's my neck of the woods (although admittedly, he probably goes way further north than where I live).
