Weekend Recap (3 days late)

First off, let me apologize for my extended absence. After the long, relaxing weekend, my brain and body were just not ready for the chaotic week that work would throw at me. I feel like I say that every day but this is the first week of registration for the school I work at. Meaning, I can't check in with you lovely folks as often as I used too. Hopefully you forgive me if I update you on what's been going on in my life.

Friday afternoon, I hopped in the car and headed to Virginia Beach to hang out with some pretty awesome ladies and lay on the beach. Each day, we did our usual daily sunbathing and would then shower, primp and head out to dinner. Twice to the Taphouse (one of our faves) and on the last night, to a bar and grill off 19th street. It could very well have been named The 19th Street Bar and Grill. Don't take my word on that though.

Jackie, Kristin, Megan, Laura, Heather and my (very puffy) self.

We had a blast and are already planning next years trip. Fingers crossed we can go sometime in the Fall, minus the new babies.

Speaking of babies, I figured you might be wanting an update on that too? No? Yes? Don't care? Well, I'm giving you one whether you like it or not. Only because it's the only thing on my mind these days and this baby seems to be sucking the life out of me. (Dramatic. I know.)

Ten Weeks Preggers.

Technically, I'm 12 weeks pregnant today and can't sit down comfortably with my pants buttoned but in the picture, I'm 10 weeks and just starting to notice some tightness is my clothes.

If you follow me on twitter, you'll notice I haven't had the most comfortable pregnancy so far. Some women boast about having zero nausea during pregnancy and I'm completely envious of them. I've been sick since the day I found out, some days worse than others. I finally broke down and asked my doctor for a prescription because I couldn't keep down water or bread on Monday. Most days I can keep the sickness under control if I munch on crackers or peanuts every few hours but when it gets bad, it gets REAL bad.

Onto a lighter note, if you want to know, my fetus is the size of a lime and has fingernails. I know this because I've watched Juno one too many times. Also, my Droid app tells me the same thing. My sister keeps telling me I should read actual books to learn about pregnancy, guess I should get on that.

And if you are really bored and want to keep reading, here are a few facts about my pregnancy so far. Stolen from my fellow mom-to-be Sara:

How far along? 12 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +2 pounds.
How big is baby? About 2 1/2  inches, the size of a small lime.
Maternity clothes? Nope. Not yet. The help of a hair band or my belly band help with keeping my normal pants up.
Stretch Marks? Nope
Best moment this week? Getting prescription drugs to help with vomiting. That's about it.
Movement? None from the baby anyway.
Food Cravings? When I can eat, El Charros tacos. And orange soda.
What I miss: Being able to suck in my stomach. And booze. No, I'm not an alcoholic. It's just really hot outside and I want a Corona.
What I am looking forward to: Getting my baby bump instead of looking like I ate too much for lunch.
Nausea/Vomiting?: Every day. All day. We've gone over this...
Labor signs? Nope
Gender? Jury is still out.
Belly Button in or out? Innie for life. I hope.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Sleep? Pretty well, although I'd like more of it. I'm exhausted.

Weekly Wisdom: Eat what you can, when you can. Whatever sounds good is usually all I can eat. Which means I'm surviving on peanut butter and El Charro's tacos

first of all, you look fabulous, even if you don't feel it. second, BUY MATERNITY CLOTHES as soon as your clothes aren't comfortable. seriously. i bought maternity jeans at 10 weeks and it was life changing. it's not worth the discomfort, especially when you already feel like crap. Also, I'm sure you have your own tricks for coping with the nausea, but I would set my cell phone alarm for every 2 hours to force myself to eat...I found that once I got hungry, I felt AWFUL and it was usually all downhill from there. feel better, friend. if you need to vent or are about to punch someone in the face for asking you stupid questions, feel free to chat with me! :)

Aw I'm so sorry to hear that you're having a rough time so far! Hopefully the drugs will help and it'll get better with time :)

My first comment/question was going to be if your babe had fingernails yet, lolz. Can't wait to see you with your own little baby bump!!

Thanks for the shout out lady! I feel so special and YAY for preggos!
I'm sorry your first trimester isn't being much fun. Mine was chunk city as well... I've even had a few morning face plants in the toilet during the 2nd trimester but it will get better. Something that worked for me was eating IMMEDIATELY after waking up. I used to take my shower and get ready for work before eating but that was a big NO NO once the little invader came along! Not sure if it will help but it's worth a try! Since I'm only just ahead of you feel free to ask any questions! So extremely happy for you pretty lady! OH... and you look fantastic!

Hey lady!! Exciting stuff about the pregnancy. I am considering writing a book called stuff peeps didn't tell me about pregnancy. I AM SO TIRED ALL OF THE TIME. I also started taking my prenatals at night before bed and that helped me with the barfy feeling they usually brought out. So glad you had a good weekend!

Preggy Pops help ease the nausea through a work day. They are sour hard candies you can get them at motherhood maternity stores (at the check out) or you can get an alternative sour altoids. Anything sour really does help a bit. I was sick as a dog for 9 months so I tried it all & found sour helepd most. Lemonade too :)

Ugh... morning sickness sucks bad. I never want to relive those days. You look great though! Trust me, the fat girl belly won't hit until later. I still feel like the fat girl instead of the preggo girl at 24 weeks!

Yay! I'm glad you're blogging about your pregnancy!! I couldn't imagine no booze this summer it's been so hot and drinks are just necessary sometimes!!

I hope you start feeling better soon Dragon! When my friend was pregnant, she was so bad that she had to wear this bracelet that constantly released something to decrease the nausea. That is one thing I'm NOT looking forward to when I'm pregnant...eep! Even the estrogen in birth control makes me nauseous, so I can't imagine!

yay for pregnancy updates, although i'm sorry about the nausea! looks like you had a great weekend with friends.

So can't wait to see what you're having... and I love it, I want to see the baby bump so I don't look like I ate to much... hahahaha :)

Aww, hopefully you feel better soon! I read everywhere that the 2nd trimester is a lot better, and most of the morning sickness goes away. I'll keep my fingers crossed you get to feeling like your old self (well, as much as you can!) soon, and that the Rx from your doctor helps!

@KatiePerk- there are a few books like that- "Are You KIDing Me?: 51 Things People Don't Tell You About Being Pregnant" or "The Things They Don't Tell You About Pregnancy" I bet they make excellent birth control.

Juno is the best place to get your pregnancy info, DUH!

I'm so so excited for you guys, but I hope the nausea gets better soon!!!

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time keeping anything down. I'm the same way when I'm hungover... I know that's a terrible comparison to make, but I know the feeling of having to constantly vomit water. It sucks! You look cute as a button though!

Oh no! Sorry to hear you're so sick. I don't know why they call it "morning" since all my friends have told me it lasts all day long. An old wives tale says that girls make you sicker than boys because of the hormones but who knows. I've also been told to never read those books about pregnancy because they also tell you everything that can go wrong & it can freak you out, so read everything w/ a grain of salt & feel better!! ;)
