Do work son

Remember a while ago when I told you there were some changes going on in my office? Well, those changes have been put into effect and I'm now working my little tailfeathers off. Since my new position began in July, I've been alone in the office a lot, and that leaves little time to check in with you guys. You'd think that being alone would be an advantage but alas, I'm busier than ever. For that, I apologize. In return, I figured I'd give you a little sneak peek at where I do work and give you a tour of my office.

But, please pardon the semi-blurry point and shoot photos. I was working with what I had during the five spare moments I was alone before leaving the office.

Here you can see a full view of my cube, in all it's purple glory. It was discussed last year that all the secretaries should get new wooden desks but as you can tell, that plan didn't get approved. We did get some fancy new cabinets along the back wall though, but I've had some trouble decorating the shelves because they are ginormous.

I tried to throw in a few trinkets I had to fill the void: a couple of cute signs I got from TJ Maxx, a picture frame and a centerpiece made up of sand and seashells. (Which was made by my sister for my bridal shower I might add!)

Ignore my calendar, I'm fully aware that it says April. That's probably because I took these pictures in April. They've just been waiting for me to use them. Procrastination at it's best!

Continuing our tour, here's a close up of my workspace. I even cropped all my clutter out of the picture - just for you.

If you look close, you can see a few of (1) my wedding photos and a few of Bodie (3) - whose smiling puppy face is sometimes what gets me through the day. Then you've got my pen stash (2) which is hidden so that the woman I used to share my desk with wouldn't steal them. She came in after my shift was over so who knows what she was doing with all my favorite pens. All I know is that they were disappearing.

Moving on, we've got the secret jar of jellybeans (4) which has since been devoured. They were Starburst brand, you can't blame me for eating them in a matter of days. Now, I can't give you a tour of my desk without pointing out my trusty fan (5) since it's on even in the dead of winter. My office thermostat is set to 80 degrees on most days and I die. Literally, I feel myself sweltering to death. Okay, that may be a little extreme but the way I see it, if it's 75 degrees and cool outside, the heat does NOT need to be on. Mmkay?

Oh, and I guess I should tell you that there really is a stack of work to be done (6) - and that stack has grown since April so I better get back to it. ;-)

What type of things do you have in your workspace to make it your own? Do you work with a pen thief?

That purple cracks me up! I love your photos and trinkets, though. Bodie adds a lot to the space. :)

I don't really have a workspace yet. I need to bite the bullet and by a desk soon, because I have a collection of postcards and photos I want to post above it.

Oh, and let's not talk about my nursing home "workspace." It's not so fun. ;)

Love your workspace! So clean and organized and large! I have two desks at two separate offices (no fun) so I don't keep a lot of stuff at either place (and they are both much smaller and way less nice than yours!) I have a few pictures, mostly (at one office there are even some in frames!) and a bunch of calendars.

In my old work place, I had my pens labelled with my name and they said do not take. I loved those pens, so I had to protect them!

My office that I have now is boring...it has no windows and I need to put up more pictures. I have no excuses as to why I haven't done it yet

What a great workspace! Love the purple desk! My office is so horribly boring. I really need to bring in some personal things to spice it up. And candy!

You have such a pretty work space! Love how you spruced it up :) My old office always kept it SO COLD.. like 60 degrees in the dead of winter.. I totally would have taken a hot day or two away from you!

PS. You should put exploding pens in your stash. Catch the pen thief in action ;)

I do work with pen thieve(S) lol I hide my good ones! So stingy I am.

Your work space is so cute & chic, I love it.

Sadly, I am a pen thief. Not an intentional one! But I find myself walking away with other people's pens all the time. Bad, bad habit. I do, however, have an excellent phone voice to recommend me! Lol.

I love that you numbered stuff in the picture. So funny!

I either work in my apartment (distraction zone) or at the university in a brick hole. Literally it's a brick room about 6 feet wide 12 feet deep. We just got the office, so hopefully we'll spruce it up soon... but in the meantime... HOLE. haha

My last job was the exact same with the thermostat but the opposite - I had to use my heater in the middle of summer, it was so cold in there!

SO CUTE. your workspace is like, 90000 times nicer than mine. Let's switch jobs? just kidding, i love being a grad student, but sometimes the lack of AC and smelly chemicals make me jones for a big girl job. 2 more years... 2 more years...

I have a Greenville Drive schedule (minor league baseball team), a framed photo of my husband and I, and a couple little trinkets laying around. But I wouldn't post pictures of my office because it's a MESS! Every time I clean it up more paperwork gets dumped on me...I can't keep up :-/

I don't have a pen thief but I do have a calculator thief! SO annoying.

I LOVE this look into your work! What a cool thing to see! I could never really do it because my company logo is ALL. OVER. EVERYTHING. Also my cube is like 4 foot by 5 foot (they shoved my 4-person department into a room that used to be someone's office... no kidding) so it wouldn't be nearly this interesting.

Oh and now I want Starburst jelly beans, THANKS.

Your office is so pretty!! Pretty white built-ins. Mine's this grey & steel desk contraption - I hate it.
