I had every intention of being a lazy sack this weekend but we all know things don't ever go as planned. Instead of loafing around the house with Bodie, my best friend kidnapped me to attend the local beer and music festival going on in town Saturday.
Katie and I were some of the last few folks let in the gate since so many advanced tickets were sold but I'm glad we got in because there were over 30 breweries offering their delicious beer samples. Needless to say, anytime booze is factored into the equation, you can expect masses of people.
See what I mean? Masses of people. And this is only a quarter of the festival area. I'm pretty sure there were over 3000 folks in attendance and it seemed like half of them were in the line for the restrooms. You would think with thousands of people, the organizers would have put up more than four port-o-potties. Nope. Four was it and of course, with my luck, I wasn't surprised to see that the line for my favorite beer was also 20 deep.
Crispin hard apple cider was featuring their pear flavor this weekend and it was delicious. Perfectly smooth and bubbly. I always lean towards sweet, white wines and this reminded me of a crisp riesling. Am I allowed to compare beer to wine? Well, I just did and it must have been pretty popular because they ran out a few hours after the event started.
Gratuitous group shot. Our friend Bridget, my BFF Katie and myself. .
That picture was obviously taken before I had my fourth beer. Turns out one should not go to a beer festival on an empty stomach. I'm such a lightweight, I totally should have known better. This, in turn, meant that I slept in until 9 Sunday morning, giving me just enough time to get dressed and ready for our Easter church service. Afterwards, we headed over to my in-laws to have dinner and hunt Easter eggs. I was pretty excited when I found out the adults were allowed to join in on the fun and was doubly excited when I found the only golden egg with twenty bucks inside. Winning? Oh yeah. And by the end of the day, the hubs and I collected enough candy to rival Willy Wonka.
My teeth hurt.
How was your weekend?

holy cavity batman!
My weekend was slightly lazier than yours but still fantastic!
Looks like a fun weekend!!! I do not need any more sugar!
That candy photo is awesome!
Yay! Beer fests are my favorite! Hopefully we'll get a chance to get to a few this year.
Mmmm candy! I can't wait until I'm less pregnant and can resume drinking the occassional drink. I'm already starting to plan my Birthday/ICanDrinkAgain/Divorce Party should be interesting lol.
I have Crispin at my house! Alex grew up by the orchard in California. The first time we saw it in a store we had to buy some! We always have a couple on hand!
Ok, now that we've both gone to beer tasting events, let's go to the fucking CATALINA WINE mixer together next time!
Ps: I am going to blog about the amazing candies you sent me for Easter. I ate all the candy already so I'll just be photographing the empty box, but it'll show my love for you (and Laffy Taffy) anyway.
Ummm did Jennifer I'm down for the CATALINA WINE mixer :+)
The beer festival looked like fun! We had family over this weekend and spent lots of time outside and shopping around town.
My husband would love a beer festival! That's a great weekend. You got a TON of candy! Goodness. :)
Cute picture!!
Ok, so, I made funfetti cookies on Saturday night, which was a baaaad idea. I've eaten them ALL and my teeth hurt like all get out. I don't remmeber this happening when I was a kid. Being a grown up sucks!
holy moly girl! sounds like an awesome weekend :)
beer, candy, and twenty bucks! can't beat that combo!
Any weekend involving beer and candy sounds good to me! Happy belated Easter.
One of those Easter baskets looks awfully familiar :) I'm happy that you had a great Easter sou <3
It sounds like we have really similar drink taste :) Me and riesling are best friends and I love me a hard cider. If you are ever in Chicago, we should get a drink together!
Sounds like a fun time! Look at all that candy! Isn't it funny how when you plan a bunch of things it doesn't happen and then when nothing is planned, everything happens!

Ahh look at all that candy! Your eyes look so gorg in that pic :)
Golden eggs with $$ inside? Where do I sign up??
Dude, your friend Bridget has eyes like me. Dark blue outer ring and light blue on the inside. AND she has brown hair. I hardly ever see that combo. :)
Looks like you had a fab weekend! I love those cider-type beers, too.
That is an amazing amount of candy -- I love it. I saw your tweet the other day about not joking about candy/Easter baskets and I wholeheartedly agree. :)
Also, I love hard cider -- and, quelle surprise, I love riesling, too! Girl after my own heart on many accounts.
Looks like a really fun weekend!
Beer festival? Candy? TWENTY DOLLARS? Sounds like an amazing weekend to me!
haha my husband and I bought candy from Easter to put in the freezer so when we're off our diet we can have some :)
I'm going to have to try that Crispin pear flavor. I love hard apple cider. I love Woodchuck!! Glad you had a great weekend!
Curious - what was the name of this beer fest? Looks like fun! Minus the porta potties (or lack of them), of course.
no kid winning...check those king size candy containers, score.
Glad you had happy Easter & found the golden egg woo hoo
Congrats on the winning egg! And holy crap, your friend Bridget? AMAZING eyes. My gosh.
That's a lot of people! And your Easter baskets make me hungry! haha
Sorry for the late post, I'm still getting organized over here. Your weekend sounds great! I'm torn about those beer fest because I hate crowds and port-o-potties but it does sound amazing!
The beer festival looks great! Love that you compared beer to vino.. hey, it was a cider! They're both.. fruity? Sure.
And.. you're pretty :)
