Let's get naked

Get your mind out of the gutter! I'm talkin' about makeup. Many a blogger have shown their naked faces before me and I finally bit the bullet and decided to put it all out there. I like to think I'm a fairly honest blogger so why not show you how scary I really look first thing in the morning? I'll chance losing a few readers after they see this picture.

Holy frack I'm pale...

Well, there ya have it. The face behind the blog. Sans war paint and even complete with day old hair. (I figured I would spare you the "original size" option, no one needs to see my face that large.) Now, for some of my newer readers, you can read more about my eyebrows, or lack thereof, here. I posted about my nervous habit a while back so I'll give you a minute to read.

Done? Good. Moving on then.

To make up (Get it? Make-up? Ha.) for scarring you with my hideousness, let's talk about how I really look 99% of the time since I'm obsessive over my cosmetics. I've switched brands of lotion, concealer, foundation and makeup in general, several times over the years but here's the run down of product currently sitting on my vanity.

{Sources: Aveeno and St. Ives}

As you can tell by my self portrait up there, I don't have the clearest skin so a good face wash is what I'm all about. I was using Proactiv for a long time, which I loved, but when I ran out, I switched back to my reliable Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser and St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I probably shouldn't but I do use the scrub almost daily. It makes my face feel all squeaky clean.

{Source: Oil of Olay}

Of course I have to have a good moisturizer and have been hooked on this Oil of Olay cream for quite some time. The Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid really quenches my dry winter skin but is still mild enough to use when I'm a sweaty mess in the summer. Combination skin is a bitch, yo.

For the final steps, I put on my five minute face using Bare Minerals, specifically, their Try. Believe. Love. kit which is a great way to go if you're just starting out. It comes with all the essentials and is a mere $20. When I was in high school, I would spend nearly an hour putting on my trusty CoverGirl concealer, foundation and powder but now I see the light. This stuff is seriously easy to use and gives me great coverage. I finish off my face with Bare Minerals brow filler and I'm on my way after a swipe of whatever black eye liner I can get a hold of.

Before you ask, no, they're not paying me to say all this but if they threw a few bucks my way, I wouldn't complain.

I know I can't fake smile so I don't even try. I asked Kevin to make me laugh but that just resulted in an eye roll because he screamed "release the kracken" at the top of his lungs from the other room.

My finished face is thanks to Tiffany's application and contouring tips. In all actuality, I was only headed out to my sisters so I didn't go heavy on the eye color but you'll rarely catch me with anything more than blue or brown shadow. Sorry folks. Nothing too exciting here.

Do you have any cosmetic products you swear by?

First off, your eyes are so beautiful that it took me a second to realize you weren't wearing makeup! You have a beautiful face!

Personally, I protect my face from the sun (spf, sun hat AND glasses at the beach thankyouverymuch) so my face needs a bit of make-up color to keep it aligned with the rest of my skin. Why get skin cancer when a little bare minerals can make it up in 5 minutes?!

Gorgeous lady.

Loving the no make up photo the fact that you have the balls makes me smile. Although I do remember posting a without makeup photo a week or so ago and I'm sure I didn't look as good as you :+)

Wow, you and Katie are brave (and look sooo much better than me). I have to wear makeup all the time to cover blemishes. Also, I swear by the face wash, Purpose.

You are beautiful with and without makeup! I also use bare minerals. Have you tried their primer? It's amazing! For face wash and cream I use Clarins. It's expensive, but my aunt has used it for years and she looks amazing for her age...so i figured I should start young :)

I am super late on the BE train, I have got to go learn what its all about. You are beautiful and get maaaad props for this post. My confidence is so not big enough to share before/after face pictures. And my 'can't live without' piece is most def. concealer, wow if I don't wear it, it looks like someone beat the sh** outta my eyes :)

#1, I just used my apricot scrub this morning :) #2, in addition to your awesome cheekbones, your eyes are GORGEOUS! Love you!

ok first off... you have seriously gorgeous eyes (and nope sorry not coming on to you... LOL).

And secondly I've heard of Bare minerals. My mom tried it once and said it took 20+ minutes to apply everything so she got rid of it. but you say 5 which is what everyone else says too... very weird!

YOu don't look bad at all with no make up...my entire face is read on the regular...eew.

I like the St Ives apricot scrub too ... I recently have been trying to try other things but always go back to the St Ives.

You do make up really well! :)

Thanks for the shout out! You look great before and after! Oh, and I'm totally stealing this "daily regimen"... I didn't even think to go through the "putting my face back on" aspect of it! Smart!

I've been meaning to try bare minerals and I think this post just pushed me over the edge. Your makeup looks so natural!

You are SO brave. There is NO WAY I'd show my naked face. Years of acne has kept me from ever wanting to show myself naturally.

Tiffany said...

You have gorgeous skin!! Love, love hearing your regimen.

I think you look great sans makeup anyway. You have to have a good canvas to start with or no amount of makeup will help, so there. That being said I think I want to try your suggestion of the bare minerals because I still use foundation, concealer and powder and not that it takes long, I just feel like as I get older, the less applied the better, older women don't look that great with caked on makeup.
I swear by Cetaphil cleanser and SPF moisturizer for my daily routine and Oil of Olay oil minimizing toner and total effects cream at night and I love, love, love Kiehls so all my spot treatments are Kiehls' products. I just hope the stuff I use makes a difference because these days at 8 months prego I feel like a tired, sallow cow.

I swear by Burt's Bees products - at least for washing my face, I don't use their makeup.

Cute post!! I love bare minerals.

- This was a fun post. I wish I knew more [read: anything] about makeup to do one too.
- Your eyes totally pop in that 1st pic.
- Oil of Olay reminds me of my Nana. Love it.
- Dude, everyone swears on their mother about Bare Minerals, do I have to try it? I've shyed (shied?? Whatevs) away from it because I suck at doing makeup and it's pretty expensive. Is it really worth it?

Love that you did this post as well!

I have used Proactiv since I was about 13 years old...I can't stop! I actually tried to stop using about 2 years ago; I bought NARS products, which worked GREAT at first, but then about 2 weeks after I started, I began to break out like nobody's business...so I crawled back to Proactiv...

And Oil of Olay - definitely my favorite moisturizer ever! It is so creamy and wonderful.

You're gorgeous even without makeup! I'm a makeup junkie, though, and completely hypocritical because I will not leave the house without it even though I think all of you lovely ladies look great without it.

My favorites hands down are Makeup Forever foundation, Tarte lip rogue and Diorshow mascara. Definitely my staples.
