To link up and share your plans for the weekend, head on over to Jen's blog and link up!
I've been in a serious funk this week and am so ready for some R&R this weekend. The hubs and I have no exciting plans and I really, really hope it stays that way. Tonight we plan to slip on over to his parent's house to wish my mother in law a happy birthday.
Kevin with his sweet parents at our wedding
Other than that, it's gonna be a pretty low-key weekend. Now, since it's Friday and all, I should have a vlog for you...but I don't. This week flew by and I completely forgot to record one but still wanted to touch on this weeks topic for you which was: What did you imagine your future life to be like when you graduated high school and how is the reality different?
Personal pics, stealing them wouldn't be nice...
If you had asked me in high school where I would be after I graduated, I probably would have told you that I was going to marry my high school sweetheart and build a home right next door to his momma then have his babies. Yeah, um, thank the sweet lawd that didn't happen.
Photo altered to protect the innocent...or, not so innocent.
Oh yeah, we totally had our senior portraits taken together. You didn't do that? Hmm. Well, we were in lurve and didn't know any better. Thankfully, I came to my senses after we graduated and broke off our engagement. Yes, I said engagement. We bought a ring at the mall when I was eighteen and he asked me to marry him in the parking lot. Oober romantic, I know.
Since those days, I've come a long way. After high school, I took a few classes at the local community college (a four year school was never in the cards for me, I'm no academic) and I moved out of my parents house and got a big girl job within the county school system. I shared a townhouse with a few friends and it was, hands down, the best life decision I've ever made. It gave me independence and a chance to experience things as an adult. I will admit, there were many a night the ladies and I stayed up a wee bit too late which I regretted the next morning but shit, it was fun.
After I sewed my wild oats, I met Kevin, we fell in love and lived happily ever after. That's the way it's supposed to end right? Well, we'll just say mostly happily ever after and leave it at that. ;)
How is your life different than how you imagined it would be when you were in high school??

Isn't it funny how when you're 18 you feel SO in love and can't imagine your life without your high school boyfriend and then later you grow up a little and think oh thank goodness we didn't stay together. Well, I thought that anyway, but then again I didn't have the best high school boyfriends. :)
Bahaha I have a very similar highschool boyfriend story... thankfully it didn't work out ahh sometimes god like to play jokes on me.
oh girl that is crazy high school drama lovely stuff!
Glad you sewed your wild oats and landed your prince charming aka Kevin :)
I'm glad high school is over for me personally!
Enjoy your weekend and happy birthday to your MIL! :)
You are the cutest. I had a serious high school boyfriend, too (but no senior photos). He bought me a "promise" ring that I wore on my right hand. Dumping him was the best decision of my life!
I agree that living on my own and sewing some wild oats made me the woman that Pete would want to marry in the end. Old Hannah was probably a bit too wild for him!
By the way go class of 04!
Love the flashback post! Those pictures are priceless!
I think this may be my favorite post of yours so far! You are so cute!
Oh thank goodness I didn't end up the way I thought I would in high school! I, too, thought that I'd end up with my high school sweetie. And, like you said, thank goodness I didn't! haha
Happy Friday, girl!
Haha! I had my Senior pictures taken with my boyfriend at the time & then we broke up like 2 weeks later! Oh young love! My plans were way different than what actually happened as well. I am very thankful, too! Happy Friday!!
oh hell yeah it's completely different. In fact it's different now than I thought it would be in 2005 when I graduated from college. Lots of things are happening that I never expected so I hold on tight b/c this ride may make sudden sharp turns... LOL
i love this recap!!
Aww! I am glad everything worked out for the best:) Hindsight is 20/20, isn't it???
Boy oh boy, LURV sure can do some silly things to us! I probably would have said the same thing in HS. Now my 'best friend' is marrying my high school sweetheart. BWAHAHA
Have a fabulous weekend!
Side note: I LOVE the ties the guys wore at your wedding wow!
Oh lord. We are more twinsies than I realized. I, too, was engaged young, with the first real boyfriend I had...high school sweethearts. It lasted 3 years, but then I admit that I got tired of him because he was uber immature and I was all "I'm a new college student without any tolerance for nonsense" and I broke his heart. The break up was 6 years ago and apparently, he's still heartbroken and single. Oops.
Running on a Friday you're hard core, I always feel like the life has been sucked out of me come Friday & I only have enough energy to put on my sweat pants. You're guna do great in your 5k! They're so fun & I bet you'll be addicted to races or running or both after that. Next is an 8k, next a 10k pretty soon you'll be marathoning :)
Happy Weekend I'm in the same no plans boat & luvvving it already.
XO
Haha I think it's so funny that you had you senior pictures taken together! Is it weird that my life has pretty much turned out how I thought it would at 18?
Love this. I was pretty serious with my college bf, too. Thank goodness I didn't end up with him!!
Hope y'all have a great, relaxing weekend!
Oh my goodness, after seeing this I realized that I totally left out that crazy high school boyfriend I had! Oops!
Also, I LOVE your senior portraits together. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
That taste of independence after high school is so important! Also, making and learning from your mistakes during that time. Happy Friday!
hahahaha so funny, it's crazy how life changes for the better.
Write it in Lipstick
Oh Jessica. So happy you got to experience your freedom and live up your early twenties ;) I also seriously thought I'd marry my HS sweetheart.. no engagement but I had like 3 promise rings from him. Big pimpin'. TG I didn't, that's for sure.
Crazy how life ends up!!
OMFG. Thank God I did not marry the guy I dated when I was 18. We had nothing in common. No idea what I was thinking.
I sort of love that everyone's high school plan was so different than their actual life!
It's so funny to see how much we grow up from the time we're 18 and think we know everything and once we get a bit older we realize the truth.
Thank goodness the parking lot proposal didn't stick! :)
Wow, you had your senior pics taken together! I've honestly never even heard of having that done...
I guess when I graduated high school I wanted to win back my high school sweetheart (who broke up with me about a month and a half before I graduated), finish school with a performing arts degree and...after that who knows. I've never been one for thinking farther ahead than a year or two. Not one of the things mentioned above happened though, and I'm in the same boat as you saying "thank the Lord for that"!
