I'm giving myself all kinds of high fives and patting myself on the back right now because I lost another 3 pounds this week. Props to me and my green spinach smoothies.
I think a lot of my success this week has to do with the C25K progress. My body is not used to doing cardio 4/5 times per week so stepping up my workout seems to be working. I'm half nervous and half excited because I'm thinking of running 2 5K's in April. Running has become enjoyable for me but I'm not sure if it's that enjoyable. Guess I should wait and see if I'm even ready for the first one.
Are you a runner? How long did it take you to get prepared for your first 5K/10K/marathon?
Enough of that exercise mumbo jumbo, let's talk about something semi-interesting.
Like my underwear.
When I do hit the gym, it's usually in an outfit that you might see on a homeless person. I'm talkin old, torn up tee shirts with sweatpants and I hardly ever get them to match. Most of the time they're clean but to be honest with you, sometimes I cheat. Laundry and I don't get along so if Kevin doesn't do a load, my gym pants get a spritz of Febreze and I'm on my way. I'm not totally gross though, I never wear my shirts more than once without a wash. Still, if you want to unfollow me because I'm disgusting, I completely understand.
I was going to take a picture of myself in said sweats but didn't get a chance to.
Currently though, I have been sporting these fold-over yoga capris Old Navy:

Now, the problem with these pants is that they are pretty tight around my hips and bum. Not normally a bad thing but I'm the queen of granny panties. Hanes Her Way, bikini cut, to be precise.
{SEXXAAYYY}
So, my point here is, since I've lost a few pounds, my underwear have become a bit saggy and, well, yoga pants don't necessarily hide imperfections very well. It's not a cute look.
I've been doing some shopping and I think these seamless hip-huggers from Victoria's Secret would do the trick, but I'm not yet convinced. Then, there's Lulumon, which I've heard great things about but their stuff seems so expensive. This girl isn't too keen on dropping $20 on a single pair of underwear.

Although, if it comes down to spending a little cash or looking like I have a load in my britches, I'll spend the $20.
What say you? Any recommendations?

woohoo go you! so excited for u! I wish I could get that motivated! VS is always the way to go!
AHHH JESSICA CONGRATULATIONS. You're doing an amazing job! Ugh, I wish I had it in me! As far as the VS panties, I love all of their hipster ones. And as for the baggy drawers, I HAVE THEM ALL THE TIME, because I AM ASIAN AND HAVE NO @$$! :P LOL
I only wear thong-th-thong-thong-thongs. On another note, I don't care if the panties claim to be seamless they will still show in yoga like pants.
Congrats!! Good for you and keep it up!! :-)
Congrats lady!!! I find nothing stays hidden in yoga pants. Sigh. However, I do love VS hipsters.
Yaaaaaay! Go you!!!!! I'm so proud of you. :)
Honestly, just my opinion, I feel more confident while working out if I have on cute/well fitting workout clothes but I'm incredibly vain, so who knows. I love my champion running pants from Target and also my champion bra. Too cute, very comfy and they weren't expensive.
As far as undies go, I'm a cotton thong girl for everyday, so I just wear those when I work out. No pantie lines and they don't bother me while I work out.
Good for you! Keep up the good work. I'm a 'granny panties' girl myself so you're not alone.
I started to get into running too and it took time to like it but 5K's are a good motivator. Good Luck!
you rock!! that is awesome progress:) are you drinking the green monster smoothies? i just started making them yesterday and i am in love! the green spinach taste totally melts away into a delicious sea of almond milk and bananas!
So if you're super cheap, like me, swing on over to Target. I'm serious, they have cute hip hugger type undies, like 3 for $5. During my pregnancy my hips and bum have expanded yet I refuse to give in to granny panties so I found really cute things at the Target undie bin. Trust me your wallet will thank you.
Good job girl! I am totally with you on the homeless person look at the gym...when I actually go, that is!
First of all - great job on losing 3 pounds this week. That's freaking awesome! :) :)
About the panty lines - I have the perfect solution. DON'T WEAR ANY UNDERWEAR! Just try it a few times before you judge me. I swear it's the most comfortable way to workout and you don't have to worry about the lines. Plus - not wearing underwear is FREE! :)
VS is the only way for me! But I agree with Amber. Try going commando. :)
woohoo on the fitness progress and running! you're really inspiring me to try the program--my cardio health is horrible. you deserve to get yourself some nice workout clothes/underwear for all your hard work.
I'm so jealous of your weight loss! good ups girl!
as far as workout clothes- i totally re-wear dirty gym clothes for a couple (or 3!) days..they just get sweaty anyways! Plus-I don't stink em up (as far as I know) so I can get away with it. Target & old navy is where/wear it's at!
Good for you for sticking with the C25K program! And for losing another 3 pounds, that's fantastic! You know how I feel about you signing up for a 5k....just tell me which one you are thinking about :)
My advise? Go commando.
Anyway, I ran a couple of 5Ks, like I've told you, but I walked a lot of the way. Maybe halfsies on the run and walk? Maybe a little more run than walk? It wasn't overwhelming on either side. But, it was for charity so I didn't feel any great desire to get crazy with it. My best time was 35 minutes. This is without training. It's not as bad as you probably think. You could complete it now, I'm sure.
Oh my, I just saw everyone else's comments about going commando. I did NOT see those before I wrote my comment. Awesome! Clearly, this is the only available option. Or, you can be like me and wear thongs like a bumhole and then have a wedgie the entire run.
Nice job! I, too, am big into the Old Navy workout wear. And I, too, am ending up with Lumpy Butt Syndrome thanks to my preference for big cotton underwears. I just can't deal with thongs. The VS ones are good, but like someone else said, nothing's totally no-show in yoga pants. I'd love to try Amber's suggestion, but I'm not sure I could do it!
Wooooooohooooooooo! Good for you! 3lbs is fantastic, you must be over the moon. :)
Saggy bottoms aren't lovely so ditch the grannies and go bare arse. Dare you to!
Oh congrats, you're doing so well!
Whoo hoo! Good work!! :)
Go commando! All the way.
Wow so it's my turn to be gross but I don't wear underwear to the gym for this reason. But I never wear my pants twice since I'm a butt sweater when I run (sexy I know). So if your willing to wash after each wear you could save your $20 and spend it on me :-)
Go you!! Woot woot that's GOT to feel good hah?! Hard works pays off great job!
I started out running 5k's and was soo proud of myself thenI moved to 10k then kept running & running & now I looooove me some running. :)
P.s. I never care about the lines b/c I run so people aren't going to see when I'm zippin' by on my chevrolegs BUT the undies prob for me was they're sooo uncomforable, shifting around & what not. So now I am the disgusting one b/c I don't wear any....nope. lol If I wear running shorts they're built in undies for ya, & if I wear running capri's which I prefer they're so dang tight you cannot tell. . . :)
Congrats again on the 3lb loss!
xoxo
Ok so I've gotten some seamless panties from VS and they don't show in my work pants usually which that's a good sign. Especially b/c my work pants are tight... ugh! Not sure if they are the same as you are referring to... but I'm like you... I am cheap, not easy :) I don't buy expensive stuff... I buy on sale :) and I want a pair of those yoga Old Navy Pants!!!
Congrats on loosing more weight! That's great!
I usually just wear cotton panties under my workout gear.
Girl you are on a role! Congrats!
Wow congrats!! Your hard work is really paying off! I'd say you deserve some expensive fancy exercise underwear ;)
Oh wow!! Congratulations!! That is absolutely amazing!! So proud of you! I say go with VS. I love any of their underwear!
Congrats!!! BTW Calvin Klein has some good non-baggy stuff :)
Congrats! The phrase "green spinach smoothie" definitely made me gag. More power to you, lady!
I wear short with built in underwear when I work out. LOL. But Congrats on doing such a great job, I need to get on this bandwagon.
look at you. you go!
woohoo for you! keep it up!!!
i totally rock panties with crazy designs from Aerie or Target... i get a huge kick out of it, but i do have to throw on the thong for yoga pants, unless i wear a really long t-shirt, then it pretty much covers the panty line and i dont give a crap.
YAY for green monsters!
Good for you! I have been trying to do C25k and failing miserably. I just do not like to run, though I want to get to that point where I do like it. I am super jealous and super impressed by your success! :)
Yayyy for loose undies! Hah.
Honestly? I wear thongs most of the time - the lacy "one size fits all" from VS are my staples.
I feel like we just jumped a level in our friendship.
Anyway, I've heard a great review on Hanes Perfect Panties.. you get them in the right size but they look like they're for a five year old. But! They magically fit. I've never personally tried them but it's something to think about!!
That's so awesome!! And, this is probably TMI, but I wouldn't wear underwear with yoga pants. Maybe that's gross, but it's better than getting all bunchy. :)
Go you! Big congrats on your continued weight loss, that's so fantastic!
I own several pairs of the ones from Vickie's and love them!
Good for you! I miss baggy pants, haha.
Also, my favorite underwear ever is Hanky Panky. Their one size fits all is the perfect non-chafing size, although it's kind of big on me because I'm a shorty. But they're super cute, too! The last pair I bought was $6 on sale at Anthro, but I think they're usually about $18.
Ehhhhhh I've always been a fan of the old, cheap, baggy sweat pants myself. I am not cute when I work out at all. But I feel like, you wear it for 2 seconds (yeah my workouts are 2 seconds) and then it's all sweaty and you have to wash it. So basically I'm no help.
But congrats on having saggy pants!
I am soooo excited for you! Having baggy drawers lets you know you are doing something right, girl! Keep up the great work and have a wonderful weekend! Candace
Congrats and good work!
I dress like a bum to work out as well. I just don't see the point in spending tons of $$$ on "cute workout clothes" I guess?
AHHH! Congrats!!
P.S. Go for Vicki's....her secret is always "husband pleasing" and makes you feel so pretty! :)
Target has some really good panties that are normally 3 bucks...super comfy, but not as pretty.
Congrats!
Personally, I too wear thongs whenever I am wearing tighter workout clothing like yoga pants...but then again, I usually only ever wear thongs on a daily basis to begin with!
However, if you're looking for some full coverage undies, I personally love seamless boy shorts. If you're not looking to spend lots of $, go to Target! Their Xhilaration brand has some really stretchy seamless boy shorts (and other styles) that are (I think) 5 for $25...not bad! They also have seamless ones in Gilligan & O'Malley - http://www.target.com/Gilligan-O%E2%80%99Malley-Ultimate-Seamless-Boyshort/dp/B000MLV2JA/ref=br_1_1?ie=UTF8&id=Gilligan%20O%E2%80%99Malley%20Ultimate%20Seamless%20Boyshort&node=405496011&searchSize=30&searchView=grid3&searchPage=1&sr=1-1&qid=1299448437&rh=&searchBinNameList=lifestyle-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchRank=salesrank&frombrowse=1
I love wearing these underneath dresses and such because I have the WORST luck with wearing dresses on windy days, and I always think that if by any chance my skirt were to fly up, I would definitely not be as embarrassed if someone saw these versus a thong!
I love this post! Its just so freaking honest! I have the same problem, but I just usually wear a long white tank top under my work out tshirt and so that covers most of my butt. I feel like this sufficiently hides my bunchy underwear, but I could totally be fooling myself.
I really tried to like running...when I first started working out, I "ran" (okay-it was more like a jog, but I was really big back then, and that is a lot of weight to be throwing around, I digress, and I had dreams of running 5Ks and half marathons, and eventually a marathon...but then I realized I really didn't like running...what's your secret to liking running? I would like to give it a try again...
I love your blog!
