Fun Fridays, I'm jealous of your Christmas tree

Fun Fridays

Christmas time is the season to be thankful, grateful, give back, spend money and spread your all around cheer. Don't be a ba humbug and tell me you hate Christmas lights and their joyful tinkle because I will disown you and that would be sad because you're my bestest friend. Even if you don't celebrate like I do, you have to admit that there's something about garland and those huge, blow up lawn snowmen that just puts a smile on your face.

Christmas music also warms my heart and sometimes when I'm PMS-ing, I'll put in my N'Sync Christmas album to cheer myself up even if it's June. Because there's "love in the room from the floor to the ceiling" and you can't deny that love. Even though I am a Backstreet Boys fan, I will admit that Justin Timberlake can belt out a pop Christmas tune and the video is cheese-tastic.

Um, really? Hey Gary Coleman.

Now, if you follow me on Twitter, you know where this is going. You've heard me complain about this before and I'm sorry if I offend anyone but the following has got to be the worst holiday song of all time.

I'm sorry, I just can't handle it. Especially when my office plays the XM Christmas station and it repeats about 5,298 times in a day. I think my hate comes from the fact that I worked in two Italian restaurants where Dominick The Donkey is way over-played.

Crap, that damned HEEHAW is stuck in my head now. Frick.

Onto my weekend plans: I'm head over heels jealous of all of you, you have your trees up and decorated. You have your cinnamon pine cones out, your mistletoe hung, and tinsel dripping everywhere. Now, finally, Kev and I will get our first Christmas tree tomorrow! Not just first as a married couple, I mean it's our first ever. We never lived together before so it'll be interesting to see what kind of compromise we come to over ornaments. If he had it his way, it'd be all Virginia Tech paraphernalia and antlers or deer or camo crap. I would be content with one of those all red and gold trees, like in the Pottery Barn catalog. Yeah, just like that, only I'm cheap and will get my ornaments at Family Dollar.

Right now though, I'm designing our Christmas card - which I will not reveal because I'm stealing this idea from several bloggy friends, and would like to send one to Y.O.U. Some of you have read my blog from the start and some of you I have gotten to know pretty well so why shouldn't I send you some holiday love too?

Email me your address if you'd like to participate!

Bahahaha. Donkeys.

As for ornaments.. we got the fun variety pack things from Target and Walmart.. all different colors and sizes, and they're relatively cheap. Be prepared to spend some money though.. to get all the ones you want/need for your first tree can add up. But it's a one time cost ;)

Your first EVER Christmas tree together? Big weekend! Make sure you post pictures! And Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays has to be my favorite Christmas song!

Awww that's a big thing - like your 1st vacation together or 1st anniv. etc. You'll love it. D actually convinced me to buy a fake tree for our 1st Christmas together - he said this way we could keep it forever. I'm a sucker for sentimental crap like that, so I was sold.

I buy real garland for the mantle but really, it's just for the real tree smell. ;)

We're putting up our stuff this weekend too - can't wait to see yours! :)

Hey, I'm all for Cheap looking expensive! :). It's called thrifty! Mark and I's tree we put up last year at my parents (we didn't live together first either). We just added a few ornaments this year. Ours was up a week and a half before Thanksgiving... don't sue us :). You should definitely take pics on what you guys decide. I'd love to see :)

Happy Holidays! :)
I still can't get over my favorite which is Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song". Gorgeous! But of course, any Christmas music, for the most part, is fabulous! :)

Not only do I love the holiday, I even name my tree. Last year it was Rutherford, the year before Gertie, and the year before that Bubbles (short for Beatrice) I kid you not, all my trees get named. We are getting our tonight and I'm so excited to have a name call out to me for the season.
Enjoy decorating!

OMG I love you and feel like we're kindred spirits. I'd so have the one color ornament themed pottery barn tree as well (if I could afford it... got most of our stuff from Walmart)! We did agree on white lights rather than colored lights (my family always did colored lights and I think I've always liked white lights on trees) and a few personal ornaments. I love love love your tree too! I'm still looking for a tree skirt.. hopefully that will happen this weekend!
