Oprah is the queen of daytime TV. She's the matriarch of talk shows and I can honestly say that I've never watched a full episode. Until the other day.
My best friend, Katie, sent me about 100 texts while I was at the gym with a list of what Oprah was giving away on her annual "Favorite Things" episode. I'm pretty sure I would give my right arm for some of the stuff she gave away.
Why doesn't she put that money towards something useful, like buying me my own tropical island? I'm pretty sure we'd be besties. I mean, I could roll with Stedman, he's pretty fly but Gayle King? Her I can do without. I'm the new replacement.

Well, if I can't be her new BFF, can I at least get a couple of the things she gave away? I watched the rerun around 11, on mute of course. Her excited voice could break the sound barrier.
A few of my favorite things from her list:

I swoon for Coach bags and this Sophia Satchel is gorgeous. For some reason, I can't bring myself to pay over $100 for a pocketbook, well, except for that one time, last year, and I'm still carrying it.

Yeah, you can go ahead and kill me now. Y'all know that I've dreamed of these dutch ovens for months. I had to explain to Kevin why I am so infatuated with them. Um, they're pretty much the shit, no other explanation needed. They also decided to name it "The Oprah Set" - because she cooks all the time?
No. Because she's famous.

I never wear jewelry but I think I can find an excuse to throw on these $525 Judith Ripka canary yellow diamonds. Kev and I do frequent the opera. NOT. I'm pretty sure I'd end up wearing these to BINGO.

A Sony Bravia 3D television. Which I didn't want until I realized that it has facial recognition technology and will turn itself off if you're not watching. I don't need to tell you how cool that is.

And now I can't breathe. A cruise? Yeah, I know they gave away a new car too but I don't need the extra insurance bill, I'll take the cruise.
HAWAII IS TO LAME VIRGINIA AS
A CRUISE IS TO A LAME NEW CAR
Honeymoon wins.

I can't even watch this episode - I get so jealous and full of self-pity its pathetic! These do look like very nice gifts though...
My friend was texting me too! I was like, "NO FAIRRRRRR" but if it means I have to actually go to Oprah's show and sit through HER the whole time, it isn't worth it to me :-P
I really hate Oprah. Mostly because I don't like seeing that my yogurt is Oprah-approved, my book is Oprah-read and my vibrator is Oprah's fav too. (I made that last one up but you get my point.) Why would they name Dutch ovens after her? I doubt she's ever cooked a day in her life. Bah.
That said...I really hope you get your honeymoon/cruise/and/or/both/alloftheabove for Christmas. Any chance you could book the tickets and say, "WE'RE GOING!"?????
Oh my I'm a little green with envy as well... I want some favorite things!
PS: I haven't ever watched a full show. I'm sure I've seen glimpses at nail salons etc.
I just love Oprah! She's fantastic!
I'm not a big fan of Oprah myself, but I recognizer her star appeal. Hell Australia spent 6 million dollars bringing her and her entourage to their fair continent in order to drum up revenue. How crazy is that? Still I find her obnoxious, mostly because whenever she visits on of the art fairs we exhibit in, she makes them close down the whole show, after hours, just so she can walk through it. Who else has that kind of power, I mean really?
Still that Coach bag, delicious! Maybe your hubby will get it for you?
I have never watched Oprah but those things are all sooo gorgeous! ugghh you would have to wear ear plugs at her show but it would be worth it!
I don't watch her either, but yea I'll take what she's giving. Although I'd prob take the new car because the man and I are sharing one between the two of us and I'm an only child and a terrible sharer.
Holy Moly those are some give awaways alright!
I want a coach purse too...one day! he he :)
i will take one of each!!!!! i would wear those earrings to the grocery store! lol! :) i hope you and your hubby have a very merry and blessed christmas!!!! you are so kind and i have loved getting to know you on blogger. xoxo
Man, I want all of these!!!
I'm pretty much in love with everything! Especially the coach purse...adorable!
You totally crack me up!! But that TV facial recognition thing is pretty bad-ass!!
My grandma always said it was ok to spend money on expensive handbags, you just skimp elsewhere :) Also did you know that Oprah has her own cookbook? It came out I think back in the 90's. Isn't that crazy! We found out her tv show has been on air for like 20-25 years (the hubs looked it up the other day, I forget what he said...)
i kinda feel like crying. for no particular reason, except i will never have all of these things. or something like that. sob sob...
I would happily take one of each!
Merry Christmas to you and Kevin! I hope 2011 is your best year ever.

When you become Oprah's bestie, I will totally tag along as your assistant!
PS, her voice does break the sound barrier! :)
You make me laugh so hard, I love reading your posts!
I have a total love hate relationship with Oprah. I think her show brings up valid points and does some good but I also hate how much she promotes every little thing she does. Her school ... her donations ... her philanthropy ... her living larger than life. It just urkes me. And her favorite things show -- I realize it is a huge publicity stunt for the companies that donate all the gifts, but really? Couldn't those gifts go elsewhere? Or how about those companies write a check and help our failing school systems, the homeless and the rebuilding of communities in this country.
{I too love that bag, though. Just sayin!}
Rant over!
I love Oprah. I watch her show here and there, but its really how she's lived her life thru adversity and made her life have a meaning SHE wanted they I really respect.
LOVE those bags! Not gonna lie, I am a big Oprah fan. She sets the bar pretty high for giveaways that's for sure...but every year, I wonder what is the total taxes that the guests have to pay for all that swag.
I watched Oprah's interview with Barbara Walters, and she truly came across honest, sincere and well-meaning. She lives within her means...it just so happens that her means are ridiculously luxurious:) thanks for sharing this little peek into her life:) at least she's generous!
I watched that show and remember thinking how pissed I'd be to have to pay taxes on that damn beetle, but that I'd TEAR UP those croissants. Shows you where my priorities lie. :P
I hope one day you are lucky enough to get on a mega-giveaway show (and me too!). Those Coach bags are fab!
I always freaking miss the 'Favorite Things' episode! I don't watch Oprah though, so that's probably why I miss it. ;) I want everything on there, and I would TOTALLY rock those earrings at Bingo!
I will take one of everything, well, maybe two, one for you and one for me ;)
Haha you are hilarious! I'll take one pair of the earrings to go with a tank top and jeans please :)
Le Creuset makes me swoon too!
