Get your mind out of the gutter! Okay, I would like it quick and dirty... my weekend recap that is.
::wink wink::
All bad jokes aside, we're back home after a fantastical weekend in the Outer Banks. I'm not going to drone on and on about how much I love it there so I'll get straight to the deets.
Thursday I took a half a day off of work so I could head straight home and get some things together before we left and once we hit the road to head east, it was pouring down rain. We figured it would eventually stop once we headed out of town but no such luck. It rained all night Thursday and all day Friday at the beach. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining. I could sit all day inside and watch the ocean churn angrily just as much as I could do it sitting in the sun. Rain just makes me want to relax that much more and as a result, I read four ENTIRE books in three days. The first one I finished was Nicholas Sparks' new book, Safe Haven. My review? It was good. All his books are good. This one was a little weird for me. The end wasn't how I would have pictured it but regardless, I couldn't put it down.
Saturday was the only sunny day we had so I took the opportunity to snap a few pics
Abby got DRENCHED. (top photo) She was trying to pick up a shell when a wave took her out. Brooke is the bottom picture there. I caught her right after she wrote some boys name in the sand.
(Above and below, views from our deck at the condo)
Sigh. I can't stand it. I will own property here one day. Even if I end up having to sell some organs, It'll happen.
Saturday night, the whole fam decided to go out for supper at one of our favorite restaurants in Manteo, NC. Darrell's has become a top spot for us so we couldn't resist some fried flounder and she crab soup. The pictures may not look it but it was to die for. One of the many things I go to the beach for is the food. You can't beat fresh seafood.
My mother and father in law
My two nieces acting up, as usual. Which is why I love them. Girls after my own heart.
My sister and brother in law, Chasity and Gary.
On Sunday, we were supposed to have our family portraits taken but it rained all damn day. So when in doubt, GO SHOPPING. Another reason I heart the OBX is the Tanger outlets. I spent a total of $120 that day and came out with four shirts for myself, one sweater and two polos for Kevin. I'd say that was a success since it was mostly in Tommy Hilfiger. Coach is normally one of my weak spots but I didn't end up with a new bag this year. I bought myself a purse and wallet in May so I couldn't bear to spend anymore money. Besides, there is always next summer.

This morning, we all woke up bright and early to meet the photographer at the beach since the rain held off. Although, I must say, getting our group of 8 out the door at 8:30 all primped and ready to go was not easy. Surprisingly, Kevin was the last one ready and he has the least to do getting ready. We had a blast doing the shoot and I can't wait until next week when they post them online. Stay tuned for that!
After the pictures, Kevin and I hit the road for home but first, we had to make a stop at the farmers markets.
If you ever frequent the Outer Banks, you'd know that their are farm stands littering the side of the road but our last stop is always Morris Farm Market.
Don't those peaches look divine? Any suggestions for what I can do with them?

That produce looks delish! Maybe make a peach cobbler. They are amazing.
I hope you get your OBX property some day... without having to sell an organ! ;)
That scenery is swoon-worthy. And I'm with Christina, you can make a peach crisp/crumble. Ina Garten's recipe is one of my favorites.
Oooh! Yum. The peach and blueberry combo looks good.
Now I am hungry! I am loving all the pics.
Hey I tagged you in a fun little game on my blog if you feel like playing :)
Sounds like you had a great weekend!
Looks like a great weekend! And I'm looking forward to reading the new Nicholas Sparks book, so I'm glad to hear it's good!
I want to own property there one day too - maybe we can be neighbors! :)
